Mariam’s Game

Today 10 of August 2017 at 4:43pm, was reported a warning on the online newspaper Khaleej Times about a game called “Mariam”. The newspaper comments that the Sharjah police have warned against playing the “Mariam” game, which is thought to being used to steal personal information.

Moreover, it is reported that they have called to their citizenships to be “vigilant and not to disclose any private or personal information through the game.”

That was not all, one day before the 9th of August the online newspaper Gulf News also reported this warning. Gulf news explained that the game was created on July 25, 2017, the story is about a girl who is lost in the forest.

It is commented, that the game is filled with frightening audio and visual sound effects and is the player who needs to help the girl finds the way back home. During the game, the players are asked a series of personal questions (including where the players live). Besides, Gulf News said there is also a question about Qatar crisis.

Major-General Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigations Affairs, has alerted players against the game because depends on collecting personal and private information. The Maj-Gen Al Mansouri also was reported to had commented that the game can gain access to a number of apps and folders from smartphones.
