Preparations to deploy 4G technology in Egypt

On May 5th, it was reported that the Egyptian Cabinet approved the country’s telecommunications authority – National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) – to launch fourth-generation mobile communications for approximately 94 million subscribers to its cellular services.

Minister of ICT in Egypt presented during an event the schedules to generate licenses to deploy this technology, in collaboration with the NTRA regarding preparation of licenses, legal aspects, and standing economic and technical commitments.

This is part of the media sector development in Egypt, which is expected to place Egypt at the head of countries that supply the fourth generation communication services, a step which will increase the government’s resources and enhance the services provided to citizens.

Another project is currently carried out in cooperation with the NTRA is building a new city (Al Alamein New City (ANC)), on which the Minister of Construction announced on 13th of March 2015, which is supposed to be the biggest smart city in the Middle East.
