China blamed for a cyber attack on Australia

Appeared on the “ABC” news webpage a publication about China being blamed for a major attack on the computers at the Bureau of Meteorology that owns one of Australia´s largest supercomputers while provides critical information to a host of agencies.

China has denied any involvement.

However, in the same news webpage it can be found some similar publications where China is blamed again of hacking attacks in 2013 and of cyber attacks on United States business. On the first, the publication mentions that “Mandiant”, a computer security company, believes that a Chinese military unit is responsible for multiple hacking attacks against the United States. The company identified on a report to “Unit 61398” as a source of attack which is located in Shanghai´s Pudong district, the financial and banking hub of China.  The unit stole hundreds of terabytes of data. China also denied it calling the accusations “unprofessional”.  Secondly, the Chinese government was also blamed by a US intelligence report for attacks on major American media outlets, like New York Times, the Washington post and Bloomberg which Beijing denies.

Lastly, Wall Street Journal also claimed it was targeted by Chinese hackers in a webpage news of “ABC” of February 2013, reporting that the attack were for the apparent purpose of monitoring the newspaper´s China coverage. China also denied it saying “that the military had never supported any hacking attacks.”
