Obama signed Cyber Threat Information Sharing Bill
President Obama has signed $1.1 trillion spending bill. The more than 2,000 page document permits private companies to provide information to federal agencies. It allows the mutual sharing of information with the Department of Defense along with the National Security Agency.
Previously, it was permitted only to share information in the case of “imminent threats”. However with this recent bill, information can now be shared at anytime, encouraging public and private sector exchange without legal barriers that protect private information.
It is said that the bill was overwhelmingly approved in a 316-133 vote. To the satisfaction of the White House, Congress included a final version of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act in the bill.
