Online “Digital Fasting” in the UAE during Ramadan
Film actor Omar bin Haider from the UAE and the local telecommunications company, DU, launched a joint initiative of “Digital Fasting” during the fasting hours of Ramadan, for the rediscovery of life without technology, whether an hour, a day or for an entire month. During the month the actor will display a number of challenges with which he faced including the use of a non-digital camera and navigation using a map.
The initiative, which got the name Digital Fasting, received extensive activities in various social networks including tag on Twitter (Digitalfasting#), a short video in which the actor explains the initiative and call to join him, and a Facebook account and his Twitter, including Member on the subject, with reference to the “digital fasting” This is for all and not for a particular religion. Similar activities appeared alongside the company’s social networks as part of its overall operations during the month of Ramadan.
