The War in Afghanistan is more like a Cyberwar
The war in Afghanistan has taken a different path for the past few months. The Taliban are more active and promote their war on social media; currently, they are engaged in Clubhouse and Twitter.
The Clubhouse is like their radio, daily they create rooms and give one or two people a chance to talk, but if they hear anything against themselves, they just quickly mute that person and start cursing that person. They call themselves “pure Muslims” and call the rest of the people protesting against them misguided people.
Using the Clubhouse platform, they explicitly said in one of the rooms that they will kill anyone who aided the U.S government and this news was shared by Ms. Wazhma Frogh, one of the Afghan female politicians and women rights activists on Twitter.
The international media is using the Taliban’s social media contents more as their news source. They are more like a promoter of their war in Afghanistan; whatever tweet comes from the Taliban is credible in comparison to what news is out there from the government side.
Sadly, most social media websites do not take the contents reports and account reports seriously.
