Turkey to increase cybersecurity

Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for Turkish President Abdullah Gul, said the country would increase security in the wake of the late December cyber attacks, according to a ‘Voice of America’ report on December 28 2015. Reportedly, the attacks affected the government website as well as disrupting access to several banks.

The source of the attacks was not immediately clear. Some suggested the attacks might have been carried out by Anonymous due to allegations of Turkish support for ISIS, which Turkey denies. Others suggested the attacks originated in Russia in response to the downing of the Russian jet by Turkey last month.
